Burril FamilyFor years, Asheville natives Matthew and Maria Burril have entertained friends from all over the world in their relaxed, southern style that features great food, lots of laughter, music and real mountain hospitality.

So, it was simply a natural next adventure when the couple decided to share their knack for entertaining with their community. Both agreed that despite its rich and wonderful offerings, Asheville needed a family-friendly place where locals and visitors could come and enjoy down-home-good food at affordable prices along with the area's best bluegrass and mountain music.

The Fiddlin' Pig is such a place. Here you'll find a casual, roomy haven that serves up mouthwatering barbeque along with delicious sides as carefully prepared as the ribs. Local, world-renown bluegrass and mountain music artists entertain while folks hit the dance floor for hours of good fun.

Matthew and Maria, who live in the Fairview community of Buncombe County, actually began entertaining folks when they were just kids. Maria was on the Smoky Mountain Cloggers dance team from Avery's Creek here in Buncombe County where she danced in elementary school and all through college. (Don't be surprised to see Maria and some of her former teammates pounding the dance floor at The Fiddlin' Pig!)

As a teenager, Matthew landed a major role in the classic family film Where the Lilies Bloom. He traveled all over the country promoting the story of an inspirational Appalachian family. This unique experience gave him insight at an early age of just how special his home territory really was.

Both families have a rich legacy of community service and active involvement. Maria's grandfather, William J. "Bill" Corn, was a local fire chief and former professional baseball player in the Baltimore Orioles system. He often told Maria about seeing the first automobile in Buncombe County pass by his Avery's Creek home on what is now Long Shoals Road.

A woman ahead of her time, Maria's grandmother, Edna Corn, was the first woman to serve on the Buncombe County School Board and was a server at the Biltmore House when the Vanderbilts actually lived there. Matthew's father, Ben Burril, was an electrician and helped establish the Fairview Volunteer Fire Department.

The Fiddlin' Pig is a true celebration of the rich heritage and colorful culture of Western North Carolina. For the Burril family, the importance of friends and long-lasting relationships; the legacy of family values and traditions; and the blessings of the good mountain life are evident in the great service, mountain-true food and inspiring local music of The Fiddlin' Pig.

Come celebrate with us. We're a family tradition you won't want to miss.
